December 31 - Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis! Dec 31, 2021 | 11:12 / IMPORTANT EVENTS

At the end of the 1980s, in connection with the global changes taking place in the world, a sense of solidarity among many peoples, including the people of Azerbaijan, increased. On the basis of the expanding popular movement for the democratization of public life, the people of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for the first time in November 1989 began to protest against the unjustified barriers on the border, built to prevent the restoration of humanitarian, cultural, economic and family ties between North and South Azerbaijan. Thus, this political action, which began under the name "Border Movement", on December 31, 1989 turned into a movement of solidarity of Azerbaijanis.
