General Director of the Institute of Geography named after Academician H. Aliyev of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan,D.Sc. in geography Zakir Eminov and the Executive Director of the Institute, Associate Professor Zaur Imrani took part in the 15th Caspian Energy Forum "Energy Dialogue in the Context of International Energy Security", which was held in Moscow.
The forum was attended by more than 150 representatives of international organizations and authorities, as well as students and doctoral students. The participants made presentations on their scientific research and their results related to the Caspian Sea.
Eminov, General Director of the Institute of Geography, made a presentation on the topic “The role of the oil and gas industry in the sustainable socio-economic development of the Republic of Azerbaijan”, gave extensive information to the forum participants about the history of the development of the oil and gas industry in Azerbaijan, the contract of the century, new oil and gas pipelines, the South gas corridor, Azerbaijan Oil Fund, development of the non-oil sector, employment of the population, the role of regions, etc.
The Executive Director of the Institute Z.Imrani made a report on the topic "Compliance of the amount of hydrocarbons in the Caspian Sea with environmental safety standards and the effective use of the tourism potential of the Caspian coast of Azerbaijan."
During the visit, geologists Nikolai Osokin, Deputy Director of the Russian Institute of Geography and Head of the Department of the Russian State Geological Prospecting University named after Sergo Orzonikidze, Honored Geologist of Russia, Professor Vagif Kerimov conducted scientific research, took part in joint projects, increased the level of scientific knowledge of doctoral students and dissertators and others discussed issues.
Taking into account the growing importance of deepening the Caspian Energy Dialogue within the framework of the Caspian Energy Forum - 2023, the Institute of Geography signed a cooperation agreement with the Caspian Branch of the P.P. Shirshov of RF AS and the Caspian Research Center.
