A meeting of the Academic Council of the Institute of Geography named after Academician H. Aliyev of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan was chaired by the General Director, Doctor of Geographical Sciences Zakir Eminov.

A minute of silence was held in memory of the late head of the department, Rafail Abdullaev. The General Director gave brief information about the scientist’s scientific activities.

Then, on behalf of the institute staff, he congratulated geographers - head of the department, associate professor Ismail Guliyev and researcher Zulfali Rasulov on their 70th birthday.

Then such issues as employees going to work, preparing books about Shusha, as well as “Historical achievements and modern problems of geographical science in Azerbaijan”, preparation for the conference to be held on November 22-23 on the occasion of Victory Day were discussed. The issues of the 100th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev, “Climate of the Caucasus-Caspian region”, modern tectonic processes, changes in sea level and analysis of topography relationships were discussed.”
