The first meeting of the Academic Council of the Institute of Geography named after academician H. Aliyev was held in 2024.
General Director Professor Zakir Eminov wished success in the work of the council this year and brought to the attention of the participants the issues that will be discussed at the meeting.
Scientific Secretary, Associate Professor Zarnura Hamidova informed about the changes that will be made to the composition of the Academic Council. In connection with the death of the head of the department, PhD Rafail Abdullaev, Solmaz Rzayeva’s membership was confirmed in the Academic Council.
It was decided to support the presentation of the State Prize in the field of science for the book of scientist-researcher Yasin Kerimov (Yasin Azerturk) “Armenianization of the names of settlements in the historical territories of Azerbaijan.”
An employee of Azerenerji OJSC, Rustam Rajabov, who took part in the meeting, exchanged ideas with the meeting participants in order to reveal local initiatives regarding COP 29, which will be held in Azerbaijan, and also got acquainted with the plans of geographers in this area for this year.
Then, the work to be carried out by the Institute of Geography in connection with the implementation of the “Ist State Program for the Great Return” was discussed, a preliminary discussion of the work plan for 2024 was held, and a number of other issues were considered and appropriate decisions were made.
