On March 1, the International Civil Defense Day was celebrated at the Institute of Geography named after academician H. Aliyev of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Chief of the Civil Defense Staff Namazali Mustafayev said in his speech that the World Civil Defense Organization was created in 1931 on the basis of the Geneva Region Association, which now includes more than 100 countries. Azerbaijan has been an active member since 1993. World Civil Defense Day, declared by the decision of the International Civil Defense Organization, is celebrated annually as a massive humanitarian event.
Speaking about the goals and objectives of this day, the Chief of the General Staff noted that the main task of civil defense is to protect the population. The main goal is to once again attract public attention to the issues of protecting the population and territories from emergency situations, to appreciate the work and dedication of civil defense workers and the vital importance of this organization.
