The “Eureka” Lyceum hosted an event dedicated to the study of the Caspian Sea among schoolchildren, organized by the Azerbaijan Geographical Society and the Institute of Geography named after academician H. Aliyev of the MSE AR on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the birth of prominent geographer, academician Ramiz Mammadov.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the AGS, Head of Department of the Institute of Geography, Associate Professor Mirnukh Ismayilov, Executive Director, Associate Professor Zaur Imrani, Scientific Secretary, Associate Professor Saida Zeynalova, Chairman of the Trade union Kamran Ramazanli, Leading Researcher, PhD Natavan Jafarova, Head of Department Khanim Rzazade. The event was attended by Khasiet Ismetova, representatives of the Soydash public association, as well as the teaching and pupil staff of the school.
After the performance of the anthem of Azerbaijan, the school principal Ofelia Muradova, the founder Khudagulu Rzayev and the geography teacher Bahar Iskenderova made welcoming speeches. Then a documentary film dedicated to the activities of Academician Ramiz Mammadov was shown. The academician's grandson Raul Jafarov, who studies at the lyceum, shared his memories of his grandfather. Then a competition on the topic "Let's Discover the Caspian Sea" was held among the pupils of the lyceum. Competing in 4 teams, they demonstrated their knowledge of the Caspian Sea and Academician Ramiz Mammadov. The jury, consisting of scientists of the institute, assessed the knowledge of the participants and announced the winning team. The pupils were presented with gifts and certificates.Ismailov, Z. Imrani, K. Ramazanli spoke about the role of the prominent scientist R. Mamedov in the development of geographical science, his scientific and social activities, his contribution to science. Z. Imrani donated to the gymnasium the "Hydrometeorological Atlas of the Caspian Sea" made by the academician.
The academician's daughter, PhD Natavan Jafarova, who also took part in organizing the event, expressed gratitude on behalf of herself and her family to the representatives of both institutions for remembering her father and actively participating in the event.
In turn, the director of the lyceum O. Muradova expressed gratitude to the management and staff of the Institute of Geography for organizing and participating in the event and presented them with memorable gifts.
In conclusion, the employees of the Institute of Geography left kind comments in the Book of Memory of the “Eureka” Lyceum.
