Head of the Department of the Institute of Geography named after Academician H.Aliyev of the MSEAR, Associate Professor Mirnukh Ismailov made a statement on the website of the Telegraph news agency about active landslide zones in Azerbaijan.

The scientist noted that spring is the season of landslide activity. Saturation of the soil with water due to winter precipitation activates landslides. Since the geological structure of the Greater Caucasus is very susceptible to landslides, it is very important to take precautions in these areas. According to the scientist, “There are areas in Baku with high technogenic load and high landslide activity. The relevant executive bodies should periodically conduct monitoring in these areas. Usually, we conduct scientific observations of landslides. The executive bodies should also be prepared to receive scientific information.”
