The staff of the Medical Geography Department of the Institute of Geography named after H. Aliyev of the MSE conducted research in Karabakh in accordance with the annual plan for 10 days, from September 11th to 20th, "Assessment of the Medical and Geographical Conditions of the Karabakh and East Zangezur Economic Regions, the role of environmental factors in the spread of diseases among the population in the modern period, and intraregional differences" (2024-2025).

The purpose of the study was to survey the population of Aghaly village in the Zangilan region, the city of Lachin, and its villages of Sus, Zabukh, and Beylik to obtain information on the medical and geographical conditions in the newly resettled areas, the role of environmental factors in the spread of diseases among the population, and quality of life. During the expedition, the researchers obtained a large amount of information during meetings with residents of Shusha, Khankendi, and new buildings in Aghdam.
