Research work on noise pollution was carried out Oct 13, 2025 | 02:10 / IMPORTANT EVENTS

Geographers conducted research in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic "On the Norms of Vibration and Noise Pollution That Negatively Affect the Environment and Human Health," as well as the warning of the World Health Organization that "air pollution is one of the most serious environmental problems in Azerbaijan."

From September 29 to October 8, the head of the Ecogeography Department, PhD in t.sc. Anvar Aliyev, and junior research worker of the “Geoinformatics and Cartography” Department Nazim Garayli were on an expedition to the eastern part of the southern slope of the Greater Caucasus and adjacent areas (Shamakhi-Ismayilli regions).

The main purpose of the research was to study the ecogeographical conditions in the region, assess the factors affecting vibration and noise pollution, air quality, as well as environmental risks mapping. During the expedition, observations were made in the area, data was collected using geoinformation technologies, and preliminary analyses were carried out.

Based on the results obtained, it is planned to form a database on the ecological sustainability and environmental impact factors of settlements located on the southern slope of the Greater Caucasus.

The results of the study will be presented in the form of a scientific report in the coming months, and the information obtained will create an important scientific basis for ensuring the ecological security of the region and preparing sustainable development strategies.
