Etibar Badalov, Leading Researcher of the Population Geography Laboratory of the Institute of Geography under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, PhD in Geography, Associate Professor, participated online via Zoom in the VI International Scientific Conference on Geourbanistics titled “Cities in the Modern World”, held in Moscow on April 23.
The event was jointly organized by the Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Faculty of Geography of Lomonosov Moscow State University. During the conference, the scientist delivered a presentation.
In his report titled “Functional Typology of Azerbaijani Cities”, Etibar Badalov provided comprehensive information on the socio-economic development characteristics of the country’s cities, their specialization directions, urbanization processes, and their positions within the urban settlement system.
Within the framework of the conference, scientists and experts from various countries exchanged views on contemporary urbanization challenges, urban governance, sustainable development, demographic processes, and current issues in urban geography.
The representation of Azerbaijani science at this international event, as well as the presentation of research conducted in the field of urban planning and urbanization in the country to the international scientific community, is of great importance.
