Institute of Geography Held an Online Meeting for the Implementation of an International Project Jul 20, 2026 | 10:07 / IMPORTANT EVENTS

On 17–18 July 2026, a virtual seminar was organized through the cooperation of the Institute of Geography, Justus Liebig University Giessen (Germany), Baku State University, and Tbilisi State University.

The seminar, entitled "Core Digital Seminar on Geography Education and Research Integrated with the Sustainable Development Goals", was held within the framework of the project "Advancing Regional Transformation in the South Caucasus Towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals through Earth System Science, Education and Research Partnerships."

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Institute of Geography, Associate Professor Zaur Imrani, Doctor of Earth Sciences, along with other researchers and doctoral students of the Institute.

In his opening remarks, Zaur Imrani highlighted the development of geographical science in Azerbaijan, the achievements made in the fields of education and research, as well as the importance of future initiatives. During the meeting, he also shared his views on the presentations and discussions delivered by scientists and doctoral students from Azerbaijan, Germany, and Georgia, emphasizing that further negotiations would continue to achieve new research outcomes.

At the conclusion of the two-day seminar, the project coordinators from the partner institutions reviewed the current progress of the project and held discussions on future cooperation and participation in new joint projects.
