From 15 April to 15 July 2026, Beyimkhanim Huseynova, PhD in Geography and a researcher at the Population Geography Laboratory of the Institute of Geography PJSC, completed a three-month scientific fellowship at Justus Liebig University Giessen, Federal Republic of Germany.

The fellowship was carried out within the framework of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) programme "East-West Dialogue 2026", under the project "Securing Sustainable Geopark Development and Academic Exchange in the Caucasus." During her research stay, conducted under the supervision of Professor Andreas Dittmann, Beyimkhanim Huseynova participated in numerous scientific seminars, meetings, and discussions. She also attended regional cooperation conferences held at the University of Bonn, one of the world's leading universities.

During the fellowship, discussions focused on strengthening scientific research cooperation between Azerbaijan and Germany, promoting student exchange programmes, organizing scientific field excursions, developing ongoing collaborative projects, and exploring opportunities for future joint initiatives. Preliminary negotiations were also held on the preparation of new research projects.

In the final month of her fellowship, the young researcher continued her studies within a joint project dedicated to climate change, tourism, and population settlement in Azerbaijan, implemented in partnership by the Institute of Geography PJSC, Justus Liebig University Giessen, and Baku State University. She participated in meetings aimed at ensuring the successful continuation of the project and contributed to the preparation of the second phase of the action plan addressing the identified research challenges.

Furthermore, from 9 to 13 July 2026, she delivered a presentation entitled "At the Intersection of Climate and Development: The Transformation of Tourism and Settlement in the Northwestern Regions of Azerbaijan (Based on Field Research)" at the international seminar "Fieldwork Data Synthesis and Analysis," organized within the framework of the project.

Beyimkhanim Huseynova successfully completed her three-month scientific fellowship in Germany.
