An event dedicated to 27 September – Remembrance Day was held at the Institute of Geography of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Opening the event, Acting Director of the Institute, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor Zaur Imrani stated that 27 September – Remembrance Day is a significant date that holds an important place in the memory of the Azerbaijani people. He emphasized that respectfully commemorating the cherished memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland is a moral duty of every citizen. The memory of the martyrs was then honored with a minute of silence.

Speaking at the event, Member of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elshan Musayev noted that Remembrance Day holds an important place in the collective memory of the Azerbaijani people. Referring to the complex historical stages that Azerbaijan has gone through, he noted that political and historical processes formed over many years played an important role on the path toward the Patriotic War. Elshan Musayev emphasized that the victory achieved by Azerbaijan in the 44-day Patriotic War went down in history as a result of the consistent and purposeful continuation by President Ilham Aliyev of the political course established by National Leader Heydar Aliyev. Referring to the 44-day Patriotic War that began on September 27, 2020, the MP stated that the people united around a common goal during that period and that Azerbaijani soldiers and officers demonstrated great heroism.

Chairman of the Institute’s Trade Union Organization Kamran Ramazanli stated in his speech that this day is of particular significance for the Azerbaijani people both as a day to respectfully commemorate the martyrs and as an occasion to once again demonstrate national unity and solidarity. Speaking about the heroism demonstrated by Azerbaijani soldiers and officers during the Patriotic War, Kamran Ramazanli noted that the purposeful policies and diplomatic activities pursued under the leadership of the Victorious Commander-in-Chief also played an important role in achieving the victory.

Doctor of Geographical Sciences Rza Mahmudov noted in his speech that the Victory achieved as a result of historical processes that continued for many years holds an important place in the memory of the Azerbaijani people.
