The project on “Application of information systems (GIS) in the process of teaching geography” put forward on the initiative of the employee of the Institute of Geography, GIS specialist Samir Velizade became the winner in the category of general schools “The first competition of grants in the field of innovations and development of education”. The project includes an expert, Dr.Sc. in Geography Zakir Eminov, and a coordinator PhD in geography Rovshan Kerimov. The selection stage of pupils has already been completed.
October 28, a meeting with the winners of the qualifying round and their parents was held in the secondary school № 78, located in Ramana village. The school director, Murad Zeynalov, spoke about the significance of this project and its innovations for the educational system.
Samir Velizade showed a video about geographic information systems and made a presentation.
Arzu Akhmedova, PhD in geography, Geography teacher of Azerbaijan ABC (Azerbaijan British College), which will teach schoolchildren, made a report on the importance of GIS in the process of teaching geography.
