Vusala Aghayeva, a researcher at the IG Paleogeography Department, made a presentation on the topic “Analysis of the results of geochemical studies of some deposits of the Miocene age”.
Researcher conducted a study of rock samples from the territory of Islamdag in Shemakha- Gobustan region at the Austrian Montanuniversitat Leoben.
The analysis lasted 4 months and the hydrocarbon, oil and gas potential of the area was determined. 300 samples of rocks taken in the maykop and diatom showed that a dry climate prevailed in maykop and a humid one in the diatom.
The analysis of elements and basic oxides on clay and non-clay minerals gives important information not only about the climate of the Black and Caspian Seas during the Miocene, but also about paleogeography and oil geology.
