Main activity directions:

The study and forecast of sea surface currents, wave regime and oil spills in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea based on the data of the IS 1 satellite (2016-2018); the development of a methodology for studying the impact of global climate change on hydrophysical regions of the Caspian Sea and dynamics of coastal areas according to the Azersky satellite and other satellites (2016-2020).

Stage 1. Studies are planned on the methodology for studying and forecasting surface currents and the wave regime of the sea based on satellite data (2016).

Main scientific achievements:

The MERRA model, based on relevant satellite data, can be used to estimate the coefficients used to estimate annual precipitation throughout the Caspian Sea, especially in deep water areas. The actual average annual precipitation in the deep waters of the Northern and Southern Caspian is estimated at 170 mm, in the Middle Caspian - 165 mm.
