H.A.Aliyeva of ANAS - Ph.D., Associate Professors Samira Alekperova, Zarnura Hamidova, Chairman of the Women's Council Luiza Salayeva and Halima Ahmedzade, under the joint organization of the Presidium of ANAS and the Women's Council of the Academy, took part in the conference "Equality, diversity and inclusiveness: water unites us”, dedicated to the International Day.
Leading researcher of the department of demography and geography of the population, Doctor of Philosophy, Associate Professor Samira Alekbarova made a presentation on the topic "The impact of floods on the population, the development of industry and agriculture." She noted that due to the intensification of floods in the country in recent years, frequent recurrences, an increase in the amount of damage in the territory, there is a great need for research in Azerbaijan to study the impact of floods on farms. In the last 15-20 years, floods have intensified, causing great damage to the population, agriculture, transport system and social infrastructure. More than 800 km across the republic, more than 1200 km of districts and more than 2700 km of local roads damaged by floods have been repaired and put into operation. A scale of economic and geographical assessment of floods has been developed, and on its basis, for the first time, a map-scheme of zoning the territory of the republic according to the impact of floods on the population and sectors of the economy has been developed.
