A meeting was held at the Institute of Geography named after Academician H. Aliyev of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan with pupils of the 7B grade of the complete secondary school No. 5 named after Veysal Musibov of the city of Khirdalan.
The event, which began in the lobby of the National Academy of Sciences, continued with an exhibition showing the activities of the scientific institutions of the Academy. Here, the chief librarian Mahsati Jafarova told the schoolchildren about photo and video materials and new publications about the activities of the Institute of Geography on the occasion of the Day of Science and other significant days. Schoolchildren visited the library of the Institute, as well as the department "Map and Geographical Information", and also listened to the GIS specialist Nazim Garayli about the work done by the department, the process of creating and printing digital maps and atlases using modern technologies.
Then a seminar on the topic “We love geography” was held in the assembly hall of the institute. Opening the event with an introductory speech, the chairman of the Organization of Institute Staff, Associate Professor Habil Ahverdiyev spoke about the importance of geography, scientists who played a big role in the development of this science, and the activities of geographers who headed the institute at different times.
Some participants of the event received letters of thanks for their active participation in the event and for arousing interest in geographical science among schoolchildren.
The seminar was attended by Elchin Guliyev, member of the Public Council under the Executive Office of the Absheron region, chairman of the regional organization of the Ana veten party, Arzu Farajova, chairman of the Absheron regional organizational meeting of the WUA, Sevinch Namazova, deputy director of the school, Gunel Abbasova, class teacher, and Amina Tagiyeva, geography teacher of the school, who expressed their gratitude to the leadership of the Institute of Geography, as well as its employee Aida Aslanova, for their active participation in organizing the event and for the care they showed to future geographers.
Finally, the participants took a joint photo for memory.
