The geographer made a statement to the newspaper "Khalg" about the level of the Caspian Sea Sep 24, 2024 | 04:09 / IMPORTANT EVENTS

"COP29, which will be held in Baku, is the most convenient platform for achieving progress in solving the problems of the Caspian Sea, which are of global importance."

This was reported in an interview with the newspaper "Khalg" by doctor of geographical sciences Said Safarov, the head of the Caspian Sea hydrometeorology department of the Institute of Geography named after academician H.Aliyev.

According to the scientist, based on the results of research conducted at the Institute of Geography, the rise and fall of sea level are accompanied by changes in the wind regime of the region, which, in turn, has a serious impact on the amount of precipitation falling in the sea basin and, accordingly, river runoff, as well as evaporation from the surface.

The results obtained from the study may play an important role in future long-term forecasting of the Caspian Sea level.
