The Azerbaijan Geographical Society (AGS) in cooperation with the Institute of Geography acad.H. Aliyev MSE AR continues a number of events within the framework of the "Year of Solidarity for a Green World", to strengthen propaganda and educational work on COP-29.

A flash mob, photo contest and environmental trip with the participation of schoolchildren from the city of Naftalan were organized on October 21-25 in continuation of the implementation of the project "Ecological situation in Karabakh".

The events, which were attended by more than 200 teachers and students, were held with the assistance of the Chairman of the AGO, Head of the IG Department, Assoc. Prof. Mirnuh Ismayilov, Leading Researcher, Assoc. Prof. Saida Zeynalova, Senior Researcher, PhD Gulnar Hajiyeva and Researcher Emil Jabrayilov.

First, a flash mob was held for the UN Climate Change Conference to be held in Azerbaijan. After several days of training, students took part in the flash mob with great enthusiasm.

The next day, an ecotour was organized to the suburbs under the motto "Let's Protect the Environment." More than 35 teachers and students took part in the environmental event. The students were given rubber gloves and garbage bags; the area was cleared of surrounding garbage. With the help of instructors, the schoolchildren made a herbarium and ikebana from fallen leaves. During the trip, the trainers informed the participants about the elements of the environment, explained the reasons for the recent drying of pine trees in the city of Naftalan.

Then there was a photo contest and an exhibition of students' handicrafts on the topics of "Year of Solidarity for a Green World" and "Environmental Problems of Karabakh". Children commented on their drawings. 15 student winners were awarded certificates and gifts. The school participants showed a model of the COP29 symbol they had made.
