Head of the Department of Geomorphology of the Caspian Sea Coast and Bottom of the Institute of Geography named after Academician H. Aliyev of MSEAR, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor Amir Aliyev took part in the IV International Scientific and Practical Conference "Current Ways to Solve the Problem of Water Transport", held in Astrakhan, Russian Federation, in an online format.
Scientists and specialists from the Caspian countries made presentations at the meeting held at the Institute of Caspian Sea and River Transport named after General Admiral F. M. Apraksin Professor A. Aliyev made a presentation on the topic of "Caspian Sea Level Changes and Their Consequences in the Coastal Regions of Azerbaijan" at the plenary session of the conference. The presentation analyzed in detail the negative processes occurring in the coastal zone of Azerbaijan in recent years due to the lowering of the Caspian Sea level, especially its impact on maritime shipping, the oil and gas industry, fisheries, agriculture and other areas.
The prospects for the development of transport in the Caspian Sea, the impact of the level on port facilities in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, shipping prospects and other issues were discussed at the conference. In conclusion, an agreement on cooperation was signed between the Institute of Caspian Sea and River Transport of the Russian Federation named after F.M. Apraksin and the Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy.
