The scientific seminar held on September 27, was dedicated to Remembrance Day.
After the Institute's Scientific Secretary, PhD, Associate Professor Saida Zeynalova announced the agenda item, the participants observed a moment of silence in memory of our sons and daughters who fell for Azerbaijan.
The Academic Secretary noted that Remembrance Day is widely celebrated throughout the country, that today's event is the second in a series of events dedicated to Remembrance Day by the Institute of Geography, and that the bright memory of the martyrs will always live in the hearts of our people.
Head of the Department of Landscape Science and Landscape Planning, PhD, Associate Professor Mirnuh Ismayilov presented a report on the topic "Environmental Problems of the Karabakh and East Zangezur Regions: From War Landscapes to the Future."
In his report, the scientist described the research work carried out during an expedition to assess the natural resource potential of the landscapes of the Karabakh and East Zangezur regions in territories liberated from occupation in August of this year, as well as to study modern transformation trends and ecogeochemical conditions.
The speaker also presented statistical data on the territories of Azerbaijan occupied from 1988 to 1993, the history of their occupation, the area of their territories, missing persons, hostages, released and identified missing persons, and martyrs in the First Karabakh War.
He also touched upon the restoration and reconstruction work carried out in the territories liberated from occupation, the organization of transport infrastructure, etc.
