In connection with the declaration of 2025 as the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty" and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Institute of Geography, visits to the regions are being conducted, and events are being held to encourage the further scientific work of students studying there.
One of the main directions of state security policy is the expansion of international relations in the field of organization, management and development of scientific activities.
For this purpose, from September 24 to 28, 2025, the Director General of the Institute of Geography, PhD ingeography, Associate Professor Zaur Imrani, research fellow Beimkhanym Huseynova, PhD in geography Samira Abushova, PhD in geography Turana Huseynova, research fellow Ayshan Mamedova, junior research fellow Nazim Gerayli, senior laboratory assistant Shams Imrani and 5 students of the University of Giessen were in the Guba district in accordance with the memorandum signed with the Institute of Geography named after Academician H. Aliyev of the AR MSE and the Faculty of Geography of the University of Giessen (Germany).
During the visit, the institute's staff and international students first met with Saida Abasova, First Deputy Head of the Guba District Executive Authority, and DSc. in physics, prof.Yusif Aliyev, Director of the Guba branch of ASPU. Then they paid tribute to the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Following the official meeting, they visited the Guba branch of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University. Yusif Aliyev briefly described the university's history, structure, and student life. Participants honored the memory of the martyrs who gave their lives in the 44-day Patriotic War and learned about the university's educational process in an auditorium dedicated to the martyrs. Meanwhile, students from the university's English language group presented a presentation on the ancient history, captivating natural beauty, ethnic diversity, and rich cuisine of the Guba region and answered questions.
In the following days, the excursion included trips to various areas of the Guba district, including Krasnaya Sloboda, Tengealty village, Temga Valley, Gachag Mayil Cave, Gachresh Forest, Gudyalchay Bridge, Juma Mosque, the synagogue building, architectural monuments located in Guba, and other interesting sites. The international students received exensive information about the district.
