Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor Rza Mahmudov, Head of the Department of Hydrology and Water Resources at the Institute of Geography of Azerbaijan MSE has been elected a full member of the Asian Academy of Sciences.

This organization began its activities in the People's Republic of China in November 2025. The main goal of the new organization is to strengthen scientific integration between Asian countries, bring together leading researchers on a single platform, and enhance the region's role in global scientific discussions.

The Academy's first membership includes 121 scientists. They represent not only Asian countries but also countries located outside Asia, such as the United States, France, Greece, Moldova, and Belarus. Renowned scientists from countries such as China, Russia, India, Japan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Pakistan have been elected to the Academy.
