The monograph entitled “Study of the Ecogeomorphological Conditions of the Lesser Caucasus” by Samira Abushova, Senior Researcher at the Laboratory of Geomorphology and Paleogeography of the Institute of Geography (Public Legal Entity) under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, PhD in Geography, has been published.
The monograph is devoted to the study of the ecogeomorphological conditions of the Lesser Caucasus, taking into account its geomorphological structure as well as the static and dynamic factors of relief. During the research, the morphometric parameters of the relief (horizontal and vertical dissection, hypsometry, slope gradient and aspect), lithological and petrological characteristics, and dynamic processes were examined and used as the main indicators in the ecogeomorphological assessment. Based on these factors, ecogeomorphological zoning of the area was carried out.
In the first chapter of the monograph, existing studies on the Lesser Caucasus are analyzed, and detailed information is provided on the geological and geomorphological structure, mineral resources, climate, and soil and vegetation cover. In the subsequent chapters, for the first time, the impact of dynamic processes and morphometric characteristics of the relief on the ecogeomorphological conditions of the area is assessed. As a result, ecogeomorphological zoning of the Lesser Caucasus was conducted using modern methods.
The monograph is intended for specialists working in the fields of geomorphology, geology, landscape studies, and ecogeomorphological assessment, as well as for master’s and doctoral students pursuing higher education in geomorphology.
