On January 26, the next meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Geography under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held. The meeting was chaired by Zaur Imrani, Acting Director of the Institute, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, and Associate Professor.
During the meeting, Council members were provided with detailed information on the items of the agenda, and discussions were held. First, 29 Council members were elected and approved. One of the main items on the agenda was the discussion of scientific topics of the laboratories formed as a result of the institutional merger. The scientific topics presented by the merged laboratories were heard by the Council members, discussed, and relevant proposals were made. It was decided that the final versions of the scientific topics, agreed upon with the heads of the laboratories, would be submitted to the Institute’s management for approval.
Within the framework of the meeting, a congratulatory ceremony was also held on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of R.H. Gardashov, Corresponding Member of ANAS. Zaur Imrani and the Institute staff warmly congratulated the honoree, wishing him continued success in his scientific work.
Additionally, the planned activities related to the hosting of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF-13) in Azerbaijan were discussed. The tasks of the Institute of Geography and its potential scientific contributions to the event were outlined.
At the end of the meeting, the Scientific Council members were presented with the Institute’s action plan for the next six months. The plan was discussed, and relevant recommendations were provided.
