On March 4, a regular meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Geography of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held. The meeting was chaired by the Acting Director of the Institute, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor Zaur Imrani.
At the beginning of the meeting, members of the Scientific Council were provided with detailed information about the issues included in the agenda. The first issue on the agenda was a broad discussion of the title and structural sections of the newly proposed journal titled “Geography and Agrarian Innovation.” During the discussion, members of the Scientific Council expressed various suggestions and opinions regarding the journal’s scientific directions, the relevance of its sections, and its research areas. As a result, it was decided to approve the journal’s title and its structural sections.
The next issue discussed at the meeting was the “Application Form for Map Preparation” presented by the “Geospatial Analytics and Cartography” laboratory. The proposed form and its structure were reviewed by the members of the Scientific Council.
Later, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Rauf Gardashov delivered a presentation titled “Urban Environment in the Context of Green Energy.” He emphasized that the concept of green energy plays an important role in the sustainable development of modern cities. It was noted that the use of renewable energy sources helps reduce carbon emissions in cities, improve air quality, and increase energy efficiency. At the same time, this approach enables the development of urban infrastructure in a more sustainable and environmentally balanced way.
The report also highlighted promising directions for the implementation of renewable energy sources in urban environments. These include the use of solar and wind energy, the construction of energy-efficient buildings, the implementation of “smart city” technologies, and the development of alternative and environmentally friendly transport systems, which were identified as priority areas. Members of the Scientific Council highly appreciated the topic and noted that the presented directions correspond to the requirements of state programs and have significant practical importance.
In addition, Doctor of Agrarian Sciences, Associate Professor Mustafa Mustafayev delivered a presentation on “Artificial Intelligence in the Agrarian Sector and Resource Management.” The topic was widely discussed at the council meeting, and it was concluded that while the subject is highly relevant, it is mainly of theoretical significance.
