On April 29, the next meeting of the Scientific Council was held at the Institute of Geography of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The meeting was chaired by Acting Director of the Institute, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor Zaur Imrani.

At the beginning of the meeting, the members of the Scientific Council were informed about the issues on the agenda. As the first item, Leading Researcher of the “Geography of the Caspian Sea” Laboratory, Professor Amir Aliyev, delivered a presentation titled “Fluctuations in the Level of the Caspian Sea: Causes, Consequences, and Forecasts.” The presentation was received with great interest, and its scientific and practical significance was emphasized. It was also noted that enriching the research with data from recent years would be appropriate.

After that, Leading Researcher of the “Geospatial Analytics and Cartography” Laboratory, PhD in Geography Shamil Azizov, presented his book titled “The Phenomenon of Maps in Geographic Cartography. Selected Works” to the members of the Scientific Council. Following discussions, a unanimous decision was made to publish the book in two languages.

The meeting also considered the issue of changing the academic supervisor of the Institute’s doctoral student, Latif Nabiyev. In his appeal, the doctoral student cited difficulties in working with his current supervisor and requested a change. After discussion, the Scientific Council decided to approve the change of supervisor.

According to the final decision, Latif Nabiyev’s academic supervisor was appointed as the Director of the Institute of Geography, Associate Professor Zaur Imrani.
