Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Institute of Geography named after acad. H. Aliyev of ANAS continues events under the slogan “We learn Azerbaijan” for schoolchildren and teachers of secondary schools of Baku. The next lesson-seminar was held on November 24 in the secondary school of Yasamal district №173 named after N.Tusi.

Director of the school Sitara Abbasova, geography teacher Gulsara Imanova and other teachers warmly welcomed the Institute’s staff and thanked the leadership of the Institute of Geography and the Council of Young Scientists for organizing this seminar.

Mambers of the “Small Academy”, functioning at the school, made a presentation on the alternative sources of energy.

Samira Alekperova, chairwoman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Institute of Geography. Named after acad. H.Aliyev of ANAS, told about the importance of these workshops. She noted the need to demonstrate video films and photos about the unique nature of Azerbaijan, historical and cultural monuments, shot by experts of our Institute at different times, about such topics as interpretation of research results using geographic information systems, etc.

Samira Abusheva, researcher of the department “Geomorphology and Natural risks” made a report on the theme “natural monuments of Azerbaijan” and gave extensive information about the importance of medical water sources.

Elvin Amrakhov, engineer of the department “Geoinformatics and cartography” talked about geographic information systems and their application. He also explained how to draw a 3D map using modern technology. Elvin Soltanov, spoke on the topic: “Geography and its importanse”, touching on the field of agriculture and directions of its development, resettlement, ecology.

At the end of the meeting, Zarnura Hamidova, scientific secretary of our institute presented on behalf of the leadership as a gift to the school “Hydrometeorological Atlas of the Caspian Sea” and the monograph “Hydrometeorology of the Caspian Sea” by academician R.Mammadov, and other books.
