A presentation of the book “Onomastics of Truth - 2” (Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur) by Nazim Valishov and Tahir Kazimli took place at the Institute of Geography named after academician H. Aliyev of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Senior Researcher, PhD Natik Babaev is the scientific editor of the book, general director, professor Zakir Eminov is a member of the editorial board.
The event was attended by representatives of corresponding research institutes of the National Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Education and public organizations, as well as employees of the Institute of Geography.
The general director of the institute, Professor Zakir Eminov, opened the event with an introductory speech, gave general information about the book and especially noted the socio-political significance of the work. It was reported that the book contains information about 1097 settlements, 1960 oronyms and 480 hydronyms of the occupied regions of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur during the First Karabakh War. The toponyms of these territories are studied linguistically, historically and geographically as objects of research, and their explanatory analysis is given. The book is a valuable source confirming that Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur are the ancient Turkic-Oghuz homeland.
