The International Conference "Future Development: Environmental Problems and Their Solutions" was held with the support of the International Solidarity Group.
On December 13, the staff of the Institute of Geography named after Academician H. Aliyev ME AR – executive director, Ph.D., assistant professor Zaur Imrani, senior researcher, Ph.D., associate professor Elina Kerimova, researcher Beyimkhanim Huseynova and doctoral student Aslan Babakhanov took part in the online meeting on the topic "From theory to practice: multilateral scientific support of the Mukhuri-geopark initiative in Georgia", held in Tbilisi.
The meeting was attended by employees of the Institute of Geography of Georgia named after V. Bagratoni and Tbilisi State University named after I. Javakhishvili, Yerevan State University and the Institute of Geography of Armenia, the Department of Geography of Justus Liebig University Giessen and the Caucasus Network of Environmental NGOs (CENN) joined the online event.
At the event, speeches were made about environmental problems arising against the backdrop of climate change in the world and ways to solve them, the experience of geoparks, the advantages of their creation, as well as the theoretical experience of creating the Mukhuri Geopark in Georgia, and information was provided about the geopark database management system.
An exchange of views took place between the Institute of Geography and the Department of Geography of the University of Giessen on strengthening scientific ties, student exchange, and participation in joint projects.
