Geographer presented a report on the results of COP29 Jan 14, 2025 | 03:01 / IMPORTANT EVENTS

A presentation on the topic "Results of the COP-29 meeting: greenhouse gas emissions and the possibility of reducing them" was held at the Institute of Radiation of the MSEAR. It was held by leading researcher Rovshan Kerimov of the Institute of Geography named after Academician H. Aliyev of the MSEAR.

The director of the Institute of Radiation, Corresponding Member of ANAS Islam Mustafayev gave a brief overview of the relevance of the topic and emphasized the importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which have a significant impact on climate change.

Rovshan Karimov spoke in detail about the nature of climate change, the processes causing these changes, the gases that create the greenhouse effect, as well as the anthropogenic activities causing emissions. The scientist spoke about the obligations arising from the Kyoto Protocol, the UN climate change conferences, including the results of the latest COP event organized by Azerbaijan. The speaker, who provided information on the current situation, latest trends and problems related to greenhouse gas emissions in each of the energy, transport and agricultural sectors of Azerbaijan, drew attention to possible mitigation measures in this area, based on international experience. In conclusion, R. Karimov answered questions from the meeting participants.
