On October 6, 2025, the Institute of Geography named after acad. H. Aliyev of AR MSE and Nasireddin Tusi Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory jointly organized an event dedicated to October 7, World Decent Work Day, entitled "Decent Work: Social Partnership and Scientific Cooperation."
Opening the event with an introductory speech, Kamran Ramazanli, Chairman of the Institute of Geography's Trade Union, welcomed the participants and spoke about the purpose and significance of World Decent Work Day. He noted that celebrating this day is of great importance in promoting justice, equality, and social partnership in labor relations.
PhD in Physical and Mathematical Sciences Kamal Huseynov, Scientific Secretary of the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory spoke at the event about the importance of a work culture and social partnership in science. He noted that the scientific work carried out at the observatory is only possible thanks to the dedicated work of highly qualified specialists and an atmosphere of mutual cooperation.
Then, Hamdulla Aliyev, General Manager of the Institute of Geography, delivered a report on the topic "The Essence and Goals of World Decent Work Day," noting that the main goal of this day is to promote the principles of justice, social protection, equality, and respect for human dignity in labor relations. He emphasized that the concept of decent work reflects not only economic but also social and moral values and is one of the fundamental conditions for the sustainable development of society. He also discussed the state policy being implemented in our country in this area, strengthening social partnership mechanisms, and measures aimed at stimulating work in the scientific field.
Orkhan Salehli, Deputy Chairman of the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory's Trade Union, delivered a report titled "The Importance of the Scientific and Business Environment for Young Scientists for Sustainable Development." He emphasized that the conditions created for young researchers, support for their scientific initiatives, and social security in their work are among the key indicators of sustainable development. He also noted that engaging young scientists in international collaboration, participating in joint projects, and promoting scientific innovation contributes to strengthening the country's scientific potential. He emphasized that the effectiveness of scientific activity is linked not only to the material and technical infrastructure but also to a healthy and motivating work environment. An interesting exchange of views on this topic took place. Proposals were put forward regarding the scientific and social aspects of labor relations, as well as future prospects for scientific cooperation.
