Employee of the Institute of Geography of ANAS named after academician H. Aliyev, researcher Emil Dzhabrailov won a grant funded by the University of Geneva within the framework of the Caucasus Network for Sustainable Development of Mountain Regions project and the Enhancing the Capacity for Adaptation to Climate Change in the South Caucasus".

The purpose of the research is to study the state of forests using satellite data from Landsat, Sentinel and SPOT, to classify common tree species, and to compare inventory maps of the studied territories with the corresponding methodologies and algorithms. Emil Jabrailov, together with other project participants - Professor M. Leuchner, professor at the University of Aachen in Germany, and a researcher at the Tbilisi State University, Tsitsagi, will study forests in the South Caucasus, especially in Azerbaijan and Georgia, based on various satellite data.

The project is designed for the 2021–2022. The results will be published in a highly rated journal.
